What is in the real UK driving theory test?

The car theory test has two parts, taken in one sitting at a DVSA test centre. Part one is 50 multiple-choice questions in 57 minutes — you need 43 correct answers to pass. Part two is the hazard perception test: 14 video clips where you click when you spot a developing hazard, with a pass mark of 44 out of 75. You must pass both parts in the same sitting to pass the theory test.

Can I take the theory test in my own language?

No. Since 7 April 2014, the theory test can only be taken in English or Welsh — foreign-language voiceovers and interpreters are no longer allowed. Our questions are original — written in the official style, based on the Highway Code — and traffic sign images are Crown copyright, reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0. To book your actual theory test, always use the official GOV.UK website.

Do you include hazard perception practice?

We currently include an educational guide to the hazard perception test — how the clips work, how the scoring windows work, and how to avoid losing points for clicking in a pattern. Interactive video clip practice is on our roadmap and coming later. For the multiple-choice part of the test, our coverage is complete today.
